Cyberbullying and Online Harassment

Cyberbullying is a pervasive and harmful consequence of online interaction, involving the rapid spread of rumors, threats, or hurtful comments among teens. The anonymity and distance afforded by a screen often embolden aggressors, while victims frequently feel isolated and unable to escape. Though platforms are implementing safety features like reporting and blocking, the primary defense remains proactive support from adults and peers, coupled with a fundamental education in online empathy and kindness.  The issue of "screenshot culture" exacerbates cyberbullying. Private messages or fleeting posts can be instantly captured and shared without context or consent, making it nearly impossible for a victim to erase the evidence of the harassment or a mistake they've made.
