Activism and Social Awareness

Youth are utilizing social media to champion causes, turning platforms like X and Instagram into tools for rapid mobilization and awareness. The use of
hashtags and viral campaigns can quickly bring local issues, such as climate justice or racial equality, to global attention. This form of digital activism empowers young people to feel like they are contributing to change. However, it's crucial to emphasize the difference between performative "slacktivism" and translating online passion into tangible, real-world action.  The phenomenon of "doxing" and online harassment directed at activists should be mentioned. While empowering, digital activism can expose young people to targeted harassment, threats, and attempts to suppress their voices.
